Maofeng Tea
There is a long history of growing tea in Jiuhua Mount. Several famous kinds of tea are produced there, such as Original tea grown on golden earth, Original tea grown on green earth in Tang dynasty, the tea grown amid the mist on Heavenly Terrane, the tea sprouts in Song dynasty which are the former name of Maofeng Tea and Sparrow Tongue. During Ming dynasty and Qing dynasty, the method of cooking tea became more and more tasteful, changed from steaming with water to stir-frying, the later ensures a bright colour, mild fragrance and delicious taste of the tea. In 1915, Maofeng Tea was awarded a gold medal in Panama Global Trade fair. In 1986, with Sparrow Tongue, Maofeng Tea was appraised excellent product at pro vincial level. In 1987, Phoenix Pine brand Dongya sparrow tongue was appraisd excellent product at districtal level. The characteristics of the tea are: delicate shape, bright colour, perceivable white nap, mild fragrance, neat structure. When the tea is made, the leaves in cup extended like flowers dancing in the yellowish green soup which tastes fresh and sweetish. |
